Mapoésie : two words which define the originality of Elsa Poux’s work. An experienced fashion designer, Elsa Poux proposes a collection of scarves and accessories which reflect her personality and passion for design. Rich fabrics take the place of writing paper and words are replaced by printed or woven designs.
Mapoésie also brings you closer to Elsa’s favourite artists, introducing a new artist, painter or graphic designer with each season…
Who are you?
How did you start in fashion?
Since my childhood, I draw and I embroider, so I went naturally into artistic studies : The Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
How would you define your style?
A personal graphic "writing", that's why I choose the name Mapoesie.
What inspires you?
Art, people in the street, but mostly I'm passionate about ethnic culture, traditional know-how... I love to create something contemporary from ancient and ethnic details !
A few words about this collection...
Shapes and threads are the basis of my work. But every season I fill my notebook of researchs, documents, drawings, pieces of colour... This season, I was inspired by headdresses, finery and ethnic masks, the belief around these objects fascinates me.
What's your favorite piece in our selection?
I love the Luck model. People have a crush for this piece thanks to its flash colours and its design. It is unexpected to wear fresh colours during winter but I find it beautiful.
What are you most proud of?
Where do you manufacture your products?
In India. I can weave my own fabric, hardly difficult thing to do in Europe.
Where can we find your collection?
At Le bon Marché, Printemps, at Spiral in Japan, Sogo Seibu and Isetan soon, at Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. In the beautiful Darkroom shop in London, in Making Things in Switzerland... and of course on l'Exception !
If your brand was a music, a movie, a cocktail...
La Dolce Vita by Christophe, this song was made for me ! Beauty and the Beast by Cocteau, for its magic. A spritz for its lovely colour.
